This 1970 Mercury Monterey station wagon is a truly exceptional original "survivor" automobile from one of the dryer parts of the USA. It is equipped with the 390 2 barrel V8 and the Ford Cruisa-Matic automatic transmission. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes, an AM radio, a power rear window and the chrome plated roof luggage rack.

This is a superb unrestored original car still wearing original paint and original brown vinyl interior still in truly exceptional condition. The original vinyl material on all eight of the seat cushions is in truly amazing condition with no wear, splits, cracks or cigarette burns in them anywhere.

The original headliner looks to be perfect as do the door panels and arm rests. The original carpet is still in very nice condition but it is showing a tiny bit of wear in a few places around the edges of the original Mercury floor mats that are still very nice too.

It appears that this car has never had any body repairs or been repainted anywhere. Both sides of this car have several tiny chips and defects but it would be a crime to repaint this gem. I believe a lot of these minor defects will buff out. This car still retains some of the original new car smell inside.

The original 390 2V V8 engine and automatic tansmission are fine and work well. The brakes need some work. The brake light is on so I assume that either the front or rear brake system has failed. I suspect this car will need all new brake wheel cylinders, hoses and a rebuilt brake master cylinder to make it truly safe to drive again.

I bought this car three years ago from the son of the man in Amadon North Dakota who bought it new. Western North Dakota is relatively dry with very little precipitation and relatively low humidity. The chrome on the bumpers is still very nice with no rusted spots. The chrome plated die-cast trim is exceptionally nice for a vehicle of this age and shows no pitting at all.

This car spent most if it's life in a garage and shows only 62,000 miles on the odometer which still works. This car has the folding jump seats that face each other under the rear floor so I suppose one would call it an eight passenger vehicle.

The power rear window did not work when I bought this car. I recently removed the motor assembly and found that the three urethane rods that make the resilient coupling between the worm wheel and the pinion that drives the regulator gear had decomposed. I called a friend into Fords of. this vintage and he informed me that Ford still supplies a repair kit for this problem for $50 so I bought one. I could not believe that these parts were still available but they are. I have not yet put the window motor back together but I plan to soon.

These photos do not do this gorgeous "survivor" automobile justice so I hope to add some better photos soon. I can email much larger and more detailed photos to you if you like. [Number in Listing]

Yo dog, we heard you liked crank windows, so we put a crank by your crank so you can crank while you crank.

HELLO THERE LOVELY MERCURY WAGON

So nice to meet you

It looks to be a nice mid-level option car. Got the big block (but the smallest of the group) got some nicer options including the stereo, but no clock (yea that was extra as annoying as it would be).

Nice car, I think it's a tad over priced though.

Also did you see the post I made for you today?
